It has been brought to our attention that the Iraminer of Income Tax in Hong Kong has decided that where a Norwegian silly arrives and stays in "on hong for a total period of ninety days during a year, 1.6., from April 1st to March 51st, wogian officers would come within the ambit of Hong Long Income Tax provisions

We are writing to enquire as to whether ozeliption from taxation cannot be agreed, having regard to the exemption which has been applied by the Income Tax Authorities in this country.

In this respect we would inform you that, in August last wo were advised by the Talent Devenue Authorities that, after full concilepation it had been decided ulat officers and men of the moreliant navios of Horway, Poland, Tolland and Palgium who were normally resident outside the United Kingdom but who were now working from United Lingdon ports would not be charged United Kingdom Income Tax in respect of their salaries [P.C., C.B.E., R.N.V.Ror wages.

In addition, a similar practice would be followed in the case of French and Danish Officers and Lieut.-Commdr. R. T. H. Fletcher, R.N., M.P.en who were serving on French or Danish ships won Admiral of the Fleet, Sir Roger J. B. Keyes, they were requisitioned by the British Government and

Bart., G.C.B., K.C.V.O. M.P., etc. 10 continued to serve on them and in respect of Lieut.-Col. J. T. C. Moore-Brabazon,

azo, M.P. vencimen and Danes who come from abroad to serve on

such ships.
